FOOTBALL FITNESS PERIODISATION
When performing football actions, players are communicating, deciding, and executing decisions (CDE). This is what we call the football ability. However, players do not just have to perform one football action. They have to repeat the football action cycle of communicating-deciding-executing decision hundreds of times over a period of 90 minutes. In other words, players do not only need the ability to perform the best possible football action (football ability). They should also have the ability to keep performing actions at 100%. This ability is what we call football fitness. If we combine football ability (CDE) and football fitness (F) we get the CDE/F reference.
In the first half, players should be able to repeat the cycle of communicating-deciding-executing decision (CDE) as often as possible to contribute to the team playing with a higher tempo. In the second half, players must be able to maintain performing CDE for as long as possible to maintain the high tempo for 90+ minutes. Together, these two aspects form the definition of football fitness (F) in football action language. This definition of football fitness applies to players of any age, gender, or level of play. Whoever you are, no matter how old you are, wherever you live, however good you can play football, whatever a player does on the pitch is the same for everyone. That’s why the football fitness reference is a universal football reference.
During this football fitness course, Raymond Verheijen will explain in-depth which exercises to use, what work-rest rations to apply, and how to plan your football fitness training during the week, month and season. Also, you will get the opportunity to ask all your questions about the application of football fitness training in your own practical environment with your players.
