Designing Football Training
Designing realistic training situations is one of the most difficult things to do as you have to anticipate many different external factors. In this course, Raymond Verheijen will give you tools to design the best possible training for your players under all circumstances.
Simplifying the game 11v11
Ideally, you can solve all football problems in 11v11 training situations as this would guarantee the maximum transfer of training effect to the real game. However, you are often forced to simplify the game 11v11 for multiple reasons when designing your training session. For starters, you might not (always) have 22 players available to play 11v11 in training. In that case, you have no alternative but to design, for example, a simplified training situation 8v8 because you work with 16 players. The same is true if you have limited space available to train. Another reason for simplifying the game 11v11 to, for example, a training situation 7v6 is because you want players to have more repetitions of a specific football situation so they will have more opportunities to practice and adapt. Unfortunately, simplifying the game 11v11 often results in unrealistic training situations.
Unrealistic training situations
Designing simplified training situations means you remove a certain number of players and reduce the pitch size. Also, you have to decide how to move or replace the big goal at one or both ends of the pitch. These adjustments often result in unrealistic training situations in which spaces and distances are different compared to the real game 11v11. For example, players can run into spaces that are normally not available or can defend their opponent in a way that is not possible in the real game. In other words, players are forced to adapt to football situations which are significantly different compared to the game situations they interact with during the real game 11v11. How can you design more realistic training situations, so your players do not get confused?
New training methodology concept
In this 1-day course, Raymond Verheijen will present to you the new concept of simplifying 11v11 to design realistic training situations with the same spaces and distances like in the real game. Even more, Raymond will demonstrate how you can use different methodologies to overload either the tactical, game insight, technical or fitness component in realistic simplified training situations. He will use game and training clips to illustrate the new training methodology.
