Course Description
Fans watch the World Cup; coaches see the World Cup.
Take the maximum out of this summer’s World Cup by improving your ability to quickly recognise patterns of play in teams and players with the framework presented in this course.
Over five weeks, Raymond Verheijen analyses real 2026 World Cup games at two levels: team intentions and individual intentions. Four analysis clips per week, released as the tournament unfolds, so you develop the ability to analyse in more detail – game by game, pattern by pattern.
By the end of the course, you will see more of what you are watching.
Course Procedure
While the World Cup is being played, Raymond will release four analysis clips every week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday).
Four analysis clips are released every week like, for example:
- Monday: Tactical Analysis of USA vs Australia
- Wednesday: Tactical Analysis of Spain vs Uruguay
- Friday: Tactical Analysis France vs Norway
- Sunday: Tactical Analysis England vs Croatia + Weekly summary of the key patterns and takeaways from that week’s games
After both the group phase and final: a Q&A session with Raymond Verheijen. Bring your questions, discuss your observations, and improve your understanding of what you have seen.
Duration
Five weeks. Approximately 3-4 hours per week. All clips remain available until September 1, 2026 for you to watch, re-watch and reflect.
Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Identify a team’s strengths and weaknesses before the end of the first half, so you can make adjustments at half-time.
- Analyse players within their team context, so you can amplify or reduce their impact on the game.
- Use team intentions and individual intentions as a structured analytical framework – at any level of football so you can recognise even stronger patterns within teams and players between games.
- Distinguish between what a team is trying to do and what individual players actually do.
- Apply the same framework Raymond Verheijen has used across 4 World Cups and 4 European Championships, reaching four semi-finals and one final.
